(75) Something Borrowed…

For those of you who, like me, don’t ever pay attention to anything not immediately about your own life, I am happy to confirm that today is in fact the end of day light savings. Congratu-freaking-lations on losing an hour of sleep and not having any idea until you woke up this morning.

I hope today’s Something Borrowed helps make the sudden blow of sleep deprivation a little easier. If there is one skill I am lacking in, it is the art of mind-blowing, breathtaking photo blogging. Today’s Something Borrowed author doesn’t seem to have that problem.

Words in Progress

I recently spent a weekend camping and hiking in Big Sur, CA and was shocked it’s taken me three years in California to make it here.  Spectacular.

Stunning photography. Absolutely breathtaking. A delicious delight for the senses.

If only I could get my iPhone to capture such vivid imagery.

A few weekends ago, my friends and I decided to head up North for the hot air balloon festival. This year is the 17th Hot Air Balloon Festival, held in Clark, Pampanga. It was coined as the weekend of everything that flies, from hot air balloons, airplanes, kites and parachutes.

It was an approximate 2 hour drive from Manila, so we made it a point to make the road trip entertaining!

It was unfortunate though that the weather didn’t cooperate with us. It was a dark and gloomy day. But despite that, I was more than eager to watch the balloons take flight because this is the first time I actually went to the festival.

As the balloons went up, the sky lit up with colorful and humongous balloons of all shapes and sizes. It was magical. I could only wish I had the chance to ride one and kiss…

(62) Something Borrowed…

Happy Saturday Something Borrowed! While it is the weekend and I should be living it up, I partied a little too hard last night and need to rest up, work on some homework and finish my laundry.

I really love this week’s Something Borrowed post. “G”, the author, is an incredibly talented writer. His pieces are descriptive and vivid, leaving me with a feeling that I am right there beside him, experiencing his story as it unfolds on the page.

It’s just another wonderful example for me to try and model my writing after. I hope I can make him proud.

(55) Something Borrowed…

Okay, time for another Something Borrowed post. While this is a new venture, it is one that I am I really am enjoying, if only for the fact that it makes me check out the other amazing works on the blogosphere.

For this Something Borrowed, I wanted to venture out into the headache inducing (at least when it came to my attempts at using the site) Blogger and share with you all a post by a writer that (although is not a stranger to me in any way, shape or form) has been on my mind since the day it was published. (Click here or on the photo below to read)

"Friday Fav - Thank You Moxie" by Three Bracelets.

I would also like to note that not only is this blogger a wonderful friend, boss, mentor, cheerleader, teammate, and writer, she is the sole inspiration for my favorite Favorite Things post.

Give her a read; I promise you won’t be disappointed. I personally have read about Moxie Java four or five times, equally enthralled with each passing word. I have also added a new item to my check list of someday life accomplishments because of Moxie… own and operate a coffee shop just as inspiring as this little gem.

Who wants to teach me Barista-ing 101?

(48) Something Borrowed…

With 48 days of blogging under my belt, my words and stories are starting to feel monotonous and stale. Sometimes, it takes a fresh perspective to breathe life back into your writing, and exposure to the best-of-the-best to make you push yourself even further than you ever thought possible.

This morning I had an idea… Share someone else’s story on Saturdays (and aptly name it a “Something Borrowed” post) instead of only sharing my own stories 24/7. I think it’s a going to be a great way to expose us all to the other freshly pressed blogs of the world, as well as providing a publicity to push to a potentially overlooked writer and exceptional story who could use a little love.

So here goes. Let me know what you think!

Days upon days a passing of time, sunrises and sunsets.

I realized the other day as I was picking up trash in the kibbutz on some mild morning, the fresh morning light shining, the birds singing, that its always sunrise somewhere. That no matter what the time or the season, there is always a sunrise for somebody somewhere, it never ends, the eternal morning. And for some unknown reason that made me happy or at least to have some pleasant feelings on the inside.

Life here moves on at the kibbutz moves slowly, though at times it chooses a quicker pace. We had our German friends Marcus and Maria pass on in the course of time. They, newly married, had a life to lead back at their home, a life to build, jobs to establish, progress to be made back home in Germany. Marcus with his quiet strength either carrying…
